Xai-Xai is located on the Limpopo/ Incomati River around 200 kilometers north of Maputo and is a highly important as a supply centre and crossing point over the Limpopo river which divides the southernmost section of Mozambique from the more central areas.
Since the construction of the protective dyke against flooding the beaches at Xai-Xai have started to attract large numbers of tourists.
