The Whaler, Ponto do Ouro

The Whaler is a small scuba-diving adventure camp located in Ponto do Ouro on the southern tip of Mozambique.

Ponta do Ouro, translated into English, means “point of gold” and if you’re up early enough to watch the glorious sun creep over the point you will understand why.

The dive camp is situated on the beach so come relax and unwind at The Whaler where the ocean is on your doorstep.

Discover our underwater adventures and be captivated in Neptune’s playground. The marine life is awesome; an abundance of fish, reef dwelling creatures, magnificent corals and even the graceful whale shark and manta can be seen here.

Enjoy the refreshing sounds of the ocean as you relax and unwind in one of our reeded beach Casitas. Our quaint illuminated rooms reflect the simplicity and comfort of the traditional culture as well as leaving a sensational feeling of home away from home. The Whaler is part of a communal camp site with 2 ablution blocks. Our camp is situated in a corner on the beach, creating its own private family. In our DIY home we have a large kit up area and upon return from an underwater experience, do you choose to congregate around a table and use our fully equipped kitchen. Or put your feet up, tell stories around the glow of the fire place. Then retire to one of 28 lockable casitas with the luxuries of linen and mosquito nets to end the day of magic in Ponta Du Oura.
